I kind of really love Alice in Wonderland. The classic Disney version and the modern Tim Burton version are both fantastic. The characters and the story, or lack of story, are always fun to watch.

There never really is a “classic mythology” in anything as far as I’ve found. For vampires either. That’s just Hollywood
I guess Hollywood is just afraid to go against the grain. Movies have stuck with Universal’s ideas of monsters. From what I’ve read, myths depend on what part of the world you come from. I’m going to do a lot of reading and take notes on what I like.

that’s the glory of research though! Just read through everything and see what your brain comes up with.
I wanted to follow the “classic” mythology of werewolves, but, as it turns out, there doesn’t seem to be one. I did pick up some intriguing ideas though.
